Cigre
was conceived in 1921 in an effort to alleviate difficulties encountered from the technical point of view in various countries. Electricity infrastructures were being in place at an accelerating pace and new problems were emerging as a result of the on-going electrification thrust. It is safe to say that Cigre has been very successful in fulfilling its mission ever since.
A question that naturally comes to mind is: What are the important achievements of Cigre that have benefited the electric power industry?
In an effort to answer this question and to raise the awareness of present and prospective members about the nature of Cigre's activities, the fifteen Study Committees of the Technical Committee of our Association have recently compiled a list of fact and milestones achieved in the last two decades. The result from this exercise are presented here below in the form of an Executive Summary.
