The logo of
MNC CIGRE
consists of a lightning symbol steaking across
a globe with the acronym
MNC CIGRE
. The globe represents the high voltage
electrical supply industry. The acronym
MNC CIGRE
stands for the Malaysian National Committee of
CIGRE. The colour green on part of the globe and
the acronym represents progress brought about by
electricity and preservation of the environment
in achieving its objectives.

OBJECTIVES
|
|
Amongst the main objectives of MNC CIGRE are
:
-
To promote the credibility and the
competency of professionals involved in
the Electricity Supply Industry (ESI)
locally and recognised abroad to support
the national aspiration of becoming a
fully developed nation by the year 2020
and beyond;
-
To provide the networking and platform for
professionals involved in the ESI in
promoting the development of technical
knowledge in large, high voltage
generation, transmission and distrinution
of electrical systems through networking and
tapping of expert resources from
MNC CIGRE
and its businesses;
-
To be an expert group which assist and
play an important role in promoting and
formulating in Malaysia;
-
To provide direction for diverse group of
professionals involved in the ESI in the
country by consolidating experts and
encouraging research and studies with
results being examined, debated, presented
and published by the Members; and
-
To facilitate and promote the interchange
of technical knowledge and information
between all countries in the general field
of electricity generation, transmission
and distribution at high voltage.

MEMBERSHIP
|
|
|
(i)
|
MNC CIGRE
has two (2) categories of membership:
Individual Members
and
Collective Members
.
Malaysian professionals who are
involved in the Electricity Supply
Industry (ESI) and are 18 year of age and above can apply to become Ordinary
Members of the CIGRE organisation, through
MNC CIGRE
.
Collective Memberships are offered to
companies which may be public or
private enterprises (industrial or
commercial), establishment for higher
education, research or government
departments, scientific and technical associations.
The companies or institutions who are Collective Members of CIGRE
may nominate an employee to represent them in
MNC CIGRE
.

(ii)
|
University or University College students
who wish to become members of CIGRE, through
MNC CIGRE
, must obtain written permission from
the Vice Chancellor of the University
concerned.
|
|
(iii)
|
Only Ordinary Members and
Representatives of Collective Members
are entitled to vote and hold office
in
MNC CIGRE
. Associate Members may enjoy the
facilities and amenities provided by the institution but do not have
any right to vote or to be elected as
office-bearers.

ENTRANCE FEES & SUBSCRIPTIONS
|
|
(i)
|
For the Year 2001 and onwards, the entrance
fees and subscriptions payable are as
follows :-

Annual Subscription Fees

Collective Member

RM2,500.00
|
Collective Member from establishments for higher education, reseach or
government departments
and scientific and technical associations are entitled to a fifty percent (50%)
reduction on the entrance and annual subscription fees.

(ii)
|
All annual subscriptions should be submitted
to the Treasurer within the first three (3)
months of each year.
|
|
(iii)
|
Any member who allows his arrears to exceed
one year's subscriptions will receive a
written notification signed by or on behalf
of the Secretary any will be denied the
privileges of membership until he settles
his account.
|
|
(iv)
|
Any member who allows his arrears to exceed
two years' subscriptions will automatically
cease to be a member of CIGRE.
|
|
(v)
|
The
MNC CIGRE
Main Committee has the power to fix a re-entrance
fee for any person who has allowed his membership
to lapse through arrears.
|
|
(vi)
|
Special subscriptions or levies for
particular purposes may be raised from
members by resolution of the General Meeting
of
MNC CIGRE
. If any member fails to pay the
subscriptions asked within a specified period, the amount
due shall be treated in the same way as the
arrears of annual subscription.
